From Genesis to Revelation, holy text is all about relationships and the limitless flavors of those relationships. It is the duty of mankind to tap into our women's unique talents-their genius for 'relationships.' pg vii
Loving relationships, though necessary for life, health, and growth, are among the most complicated skills. Before we can be successful at achieving relationships, it is necessary that we broaden our understanding of how they work, what they mean and how what we do and believe can enhance or destroy them. We can accomplish this only if we are willing to put in the energy and take the time to study failed relationships as well as examine successful ones. Loving relationships cannot be taken lightly. Unless we are looking for pain, they must not be forever approached in a trial and error fashion. Too many of us have experienced the cost of these lackadaisical approaches in terms of tears, confusion and guilt.
A large body of psychological research tells us something that many of us already know: girls and women place a lot of importance on their closest relationships. Our parents, relatives, romantic partners and spouses, children, and friends are central to our lives. We value our relationships with these people immensely, and we feel good about ourselves when we are able to create relationships with them that are warm, intimate, and loving. Our need to do so is healthy and adaptive. When our most intimate relationships are good, they protect us from becoming depressed. But when they are riddled with conflict and emotional insecurity, they actually increase our risk for depression.
There is nothing wrong in expecting a certain level of commitment, some signs of initiative and shows of affection from your relationships but don't expect too much from them because you might just end up disappointed. We all need fulfilling relationships but every relationship is unique and it comes with its own strengths and weaknesses. Don't expect your relationships to be smooth all the time. They keep fluctuating from good to bad days and from happy moments to sad moments. The catch here that if you love someone and you want your relationship to last then you have to work for it and never give up on the one you love.. Just keep trying to make your bond stronger by sharing, caring and loving each day. Do everything that you can to keep your relationships strong. Just remember they need your time, effort and patience.
Human relationships always help us to carry on because they always presuppose further developments, a future - and also because we live as if our only task was precisely to have relationships with other people.
When we become better at identifying and expressing our emotional feelings, we become more socially adept in establishing and building relationships and the better we feel and the better our relationships will be.
